Republican senator, TikTok celebrity could possibly run in 2028 presidential election

Sen. John Kennedy (R-Louisiana) has become quite the internet star.

During an interview on CNN, Kennedy was asked if there was any possibility that he would run for president in 2028.

Kennedy, as he often does, gave quite a memorable response while saying "I’ll never say never."

“If a bunch of goobers run for president, and I think that I can beat them and that I'd be a president, yeah, I might do it. I could catch a wild hair and do it. I’m not going to ever say I’d — you know, this is politics, but I don't have any big plans,” Kennedy responded.

If Kennedy does change his mind and decides to throw his name on the 2028 ballot, he would certainly have the name recognition. Recently, He joined TikTok — or "TikTak" as he calls it — and quickly managed to build a huge following. His account currently sits at just over 780,000 followers and 5.4 million likes.

But what does Kennedy post on TikTok? Is it full of videos of him on Capitol Hill ranting at hearings?

While there is some of that, but the videos that the audience is particularly drawn to are content from Kennedy's daily life. His most viewed video to date is a video he made about his wife's chicken salad, which he dubbed "Chicken Salad a la Becky."

Another viral video of his is when he introduced the world to his elliptical machine, which he named Margret after Margaret Thatcher, because he says that they both "kick butt and take names."

It's this humorous way of approaching politics — and his infamous catchphrases and viral interviews — that has helped Kennedy stand out from other politicians in Washington, D.C.

One of his most truthful quotes, however, comes from a recent TikTok video where he showcases his dog, Charlie.

“Just remember. God is great, dogs are good, and people are crazy,” Kennedy posted.

Even before Kennedy officially joined TikTok, videos of his crazy one-liners became very popular, already making him very recognizable. Kennedy even mentioned these videos on his first TikTok post.
