Biden, who turns 84 in November, announced this week his memoir “Promise Me, America” will reflect on his one term as the 46th U.S. president.
“It's about why I chose to run for re-election, and why I chose to step aside,” Biden states in a promotion video for the book.
Biden’s decision not to seek re-election is relevant to the current controversy over his new book. That’s because the American public watched the U.S. president deliver rambling answers, and even freeze up, during the infamous CNN debate with Donald Trump in 2024.
During a discussion about border security, Trump looked genuinely stunned after Biden delivered a mumbled, halting answer. The soon-to-be 47th president said he didn’t know what Biden was attempting to say.
“I don’t think he knows what he said either,” Trump added, possibly ending Biden’s candidacy with that brutal comment.
Democrats close to President Biden had assured the public he was “sharp as ever,” “on his game,” and “detail-oriented,” but that night they were furiously panicking behind the scenes after he glitched in front of the world.
Biden was forced to drop out, to be replaced with Vice President Kamala Harris, just three weeks later.
On his radio program, Glenn Beck wasn’t buying the claim Biden wrote a new book.
“Do you really believe he sat down and wrote this book? Not a chance,” Beck said.
On the Fox News show “The Five,” co-host Tyrus Murdoch said the video promo for the book was “absolutely brutal” because it had been heavily edited because of Biden.
“There were at least 35 cuts in a 20-second video,” he said. “This is bad. And shame on them for making him do the video.”
Biden’s most recent public appearance was in Chicago for the opening the Obama presidential Center. At the conclusion of the event, Biden awkwardly remained onstage alone after other prominent Democrats had exited the stage.
“Where’s my granddaughter?” Biden, standing frozen, asked from the stage.
Jill Biden, the former first lady, returned to the stage, took his hand, and guided him off.
Biden's new memoir will be released in late November with a planned book tour.
