It was 13 months ago the powerful IOC incredibly stated transgender athletes have “no presumption of advantage,” even when those elite athletes have managed to dominate their respective sports as a male athlete.
In new revised guidelines, the IOC states that testosterone levels alone should not be used and the demands of specific sports should be considered.
Steve McConkey, a former track star who leads 4 Winds Christian Athletics, has been fighting against the IOC’s policies as far back as 2003. He then witnessed other prominent athletic programs such as the NCAA bow to threats and claims of "transphobia," and allow men to compete against and dominate female athletes.
Only recently, he says, has the pushback grown loud enough to no longer be ignored.
“So what they decided to do,” McConkey says of the IOC, “is bring scientists and activists in and try to decide what's best for each sport."
Even though that represents a step forward, McConkey insists the public must speak out and refuse to be ignored.
"Parents gotta show up. Christians gotta show up,” he says. “Don't be afraid of a reprimand but your kids are most important."
