Worldcoin is an iris biometric cryptocurrency project that has already scanned more than two million people. But CEO Alex Blania aspires to add billions of people – every human on earth, in fact – to the database. Then, he says, world leaders can create a global system of identification that can be used to better control the world's population.
Jan Markell, founder and director of Olive Tree Ministries and host of "Understanding the Times," says whether or not people realize it, some foundations are being laid.
"What's being constructed is the infrastructure for the Antichrist," she submits.
In Revelation 13:16-17, biblical prophecy talks a little about everyone being marked "so that no one can buy of sell" unless he has the "mark of the beast." But no one knows exactly what that will look like or what technology will be used to implement it.
"This cryptic language makes a whole lot more sense, because we see it playing out in front of our eyes," Markell says.
She adds, though, that anyone who has already had their eyes scanned or needs to have that done for business or security purposes should not worry about having taken the mark of the beast or being destined for the lake of fire.
"Nobody should be afraid of that," Markell insists. "Nobody. People are going into this very innocently, and in many cases, naively today. So, don't worry about it."
She believes people will know when the beast is marking people.
"Once that true mark of the beast comes along, it's going to be tied in with the worship of the beast," she explains.
