Last week, seven Democrat lawmakers led by U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren sent a letter to the Securities and Exchange Commission urging it to investigate if Musk had mismanaged his famous Tesla automobile company because of his purchase and oversight of Twitter.
Joseph Vasquez of Free Speech America, a project of the Media Research Center, says the complaint to the SEC can really be boiled down to spite and politics by angry Leftists who don’t control Musk.
“[Musk] bought arguably the most important platform in the public discourse,” Vasquez says. “So that took that away from the Left and they’ve been doing everything to try to crush Elon Musk ever since.”
Musk, meanwhile, is no stranger to SEC investigations nor bareknuckle politics. So he pushed back last week by filing court documents that subpoena Warren over any communications she has had with Twitter, Musk, the SEC, and the Federal Trade Commission.
So the fight is on.
Musk, who is no political conservative, has publicly accused Democrats and the Left of attempting to censor free speech.
He has also referred to the humorless Sen. Warren as "Senator Karen."
