Marie Tasy, executive director of New Jersey Right to Life, has learned that an all-trimester abortion clinic is expected to open this summer in Hudson County, just across the Hudson River from New York City.
"It's extremely disturbing," Tasy told AFN.
Tasy added that many children do live outside the womb as early as 20 weeks.
"Some even earlier, so, clearly, there is no reason at all for this clinic," said Tasy. "What it really shows is the real dark side of the abortion industry and how extreme they really are and how they lack humanity."
Another concern? People that live in states with abortion restrictions could begin going to New Jersey to get an abortion.
Despite New Jersey being one of the smallest states in the union, approximately 60,000 abortions were performed there in 2024. If this late-term facility opens as planned, Tasy expects that number to grow.
The pro-life leader is also concerned about "the harvesting of the organs" of these babies.
"We're very concerned about whether that will happen here," said Tasy. "It's most likely that it will, so I think people from all over the country should be very concerned and alarmed about this."
New Jersey has a safe haven law that allows a parent to anonymously surrender an unharmed infant to designated safe locations such as a hospital, fire station or police station without fear of criminal prosecution.
Tasy's hope is that the state would double down on advertising that law if the all-trimester abortion clinic opens.
