A new abortion clinic that’s described as an “all trimesters abortion center” has opened in Boulder.
The facility’s name is RISE, or Reproductive Health, Inclusive Care, Support and Empowerment.
Despite the lofty-sounding name, RISE is also a place where babies go to do.
Steven Ertelt, of Life News, tells AFN the facility is expected to terminate life up to 34 weeks into a pregnancy.
“And of course we know that's 13 weeks after viability, when babies can survive at 20, 21, 22 weeks," Ertelt says. "So, really, for many babies this really is up to birth."
RISE opened its doors about six months after pro-life activists celebrated the retirement of Warren Hern, a notorious late-term abortionist. With his retirement came the closing of his abortion facility, Boulder Abortion Clinic, only for RISE to take its place.
Back in May, when it was learned Hearn was retiring, Carol Tobias of National Right to Life said she was not sad to see him go.
“This was, I believe, a so-called doctor taking advantage of difficult circumstances instead of trying to find compassionate care for both mother and child," Tobias told AFN at the time.
Scott Shamblin, executive director of Colorado Right to Life, tells AFN the abortion defenders wrongly claim it’s medically necessary to permit a late-term abortion.
"If it comes to a time when she is medically unable to continue the pregnancy, that doesn't mean you should end the life of the human being," he argues. "It's actually a time when you can induce [pregnancy] or have a C-section."
