Kelsey Pritchard, of Susan B Anthony Pro-Life America, calls the appeals court ruling a legal win for taxpayers and a moral win for unborn children.
"This is huge," Pritchard says of the unanimous decision that overruled a judge’s controversial ruling from July.
A related article by Washington Stand writer Josh Arnold says Judge Indira Talwani embarrassed the court system when she defended Planned Parenthood in a vague ruling with no written defense of her decision.
What Jude Talwani's ruling continued, and what is now stopped by the three-judge panel, Arnold wrote, is the flow of hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars to the country’s largest abortion provider. Planned Parenthood performed 402,230 abortions in 2024 while using Medicaid funding, representing 39% of its operating budget, to remain in business.
Responding to Planned Parenthood’s claim poor women will be harmed by the loss of Medicaid at its clinics, Pritchard points out there are many other health care clinics that also help the poor. Those clinics outnumber Planned Parenthood clinics 15 to 1, she says.
“Those are providers that take Medicaid, and they provide far more comprehensive care than Planned Parenthood,” she says. “They're much more accessible and they don't kill unborn children."
