Speaking to supporters via the AFA Insider, formerly AFA Alerts, American Family Association (AFA) says that "thousands of babies have been saved through abortion pill reversal," adding "studies show a 64-68% success rate" when women change their minds after taking the first abortion pill.
Joseph Parker of American Family Association told AFN, the ministry’s news division, that the more people that know these facts the better.
"It's been out a long time, and it's helped to save a lot of babies," said Parker.
As explained by Live Action, the mechanism of abortion pill reversal is essentially the same mechanism often used to prevent miscarriage… the hormone progesterone. Only in this case, it's aimed at reversing the effects of the abortion pill regimen.
"If a woman decides after taking the first of the two drugs in the regimen (mifepristone) that she doesn't want to go through with the abortion process, she may be able to try abortion pill reversal," says Live Action on a webpage devoted to abortion pill reversal.
The window in which a woman can change her mind and try the abortion pill reversal is limited to around 72 hours after she's taken the first abortion pill. That, said Parker, is how the Church can be more involved.
"Educating ourselves is very important because if a young woman comes to, say, a grandmother in the church, and she doesn't know anything about abortion pill reversal, she may say, 'Well, I'm sorry, baby, there's nothing I can do.’”
But knowledge is power.
“If she knows about it and simply can share the hotline with this young lady, the Lord can use this young grandmom to possibly save that and maybe other babies as well,” Parker said.
The hotline is 1-877-558-0333.
