Kimberlyn Schwartz, director of media and communication at Texas Right to Life, reports that the city of Austin recently approved a budget amendment form forcing taxpayers to pay for abortion travel, funding the deaths of preborn babies.
"They allocated $500,000 in taxpayer money to a Reproductive Health-Logistical Support fund, which is intended to send tax dollars to criminal pro-abortion groups that aid and abet illegal and out-of-state abortions," she details.
As Schwartz points out, it is illegal for the government to use tax dollars to pay for abortions.
"It's a crime to donate money to organizations that participate even in out-of-state abortions," she relays. "Any individual or government entity, like we see here with the city of Austin, becomes complicit in their criminal acts."
The pro-lifer likens it to someone in Texas conspiring to rob a bank in another state. Texas has the authority to stop that because that is against state law.
Texas Right to Life filed a lawsuit when the San Antonio City Council approved a similar budget item last year case; likewise, Schwartz says her organization plans to pressure the Austin City Council "and make sure that we're not using tax dollars to fund the death of pre-born children."
"We want to make sure that our local governments, as far left as they are like Austin's City Council, we need to make sure we're holding them accountable to our state laws and upholding justice for our preborn neighbors," the pro-lifer contends.
