After voters in the state approved a constitutional amendment guaranteeing a right to abortion, left-wing groups ACLU, Planned Parenthood, and NARAL are asking the state legislature to repeal other abortion restrictions in current state code.
Genevieve Marnon, of Right to Life of Michigan, says Gov. Gretchen Whitmer even wants to drop a medical licensing requirement for abortion clinics which the governor called "onerous, antiquated, medically unnecessary and harmful.”
“Those were her words, not mine,” Marnon tells AFN.
Abortion supporters are complaining about width requirements for hallways that exist so a stretcher can get down it for an emergency, Marnon says.
A 24-hour waiting period is also a target.
“That's just their verbiage,” she warns. “What they're really gunning for is they want to do away with the entire informed consent law.”
