In the latest terrorist attack against an institution that protects life, the target was Mountain Area Pregnancy Services in Asheville. Executive director Kristi Brown tells AFN the building was smeared on the front and sides with bright red paint – but that's not where it stopped.
"[On] side of the building [in the front] it said 'No Forced Birth' – and then on the front sidewalk in red it said 'If Abortions Aren't Safe Neither Are You.'"
In addition, windows were smashed and doors were broken, but the inside was left undamaged. Police have taken stock and are investigating. According to Brown, they have a couple of clues to work with.
"Human blood was found on the property – and I will say we have cameras and surveillance 24/7 on our property. But I can't speak to that aspect yet." Police are reviewing the video footage.
The center's director said staff members were shaken up a bit, but not for long – because they have a mission, says Brown.
"If anything, it makes us more determined to do what we do," she explains. "Women are still getting pregnant [and] women are still confused and hurting when it's an unplanned pregnancy. They need a safe place to turn. We are that safe place in our town."
It's the 31st instance of vandalism at a pro-life facility since the Justice Samuel Alito draft on Roe v. Wade was leaked to Politico. Meanwhile, police units are making more frequent stops in the area of the clinic.
