After the state government was sued last fall to challenge the residency requirement, a settlement was announced this week after Oregon’s attorney general backed down from enforcing the law.
Lois Anderson of Oregon Right to Life tells AFN the legal settlement also states the state legislature must pass a bill in the 2023 legislative session the rescind the residency requirement.
Anderson and Oregon Right to Life see a serious problem after the residency law is dropped.
“This now could open the door for deadly drugs to be mailed into your state,” she warns, “because of wide-open telehealth regulations that were already in place but definitely have been brought in through the COVID pandemic.”
That means other state legislatures should be introducing legislation, she says, that keeps those suicide drugs from being shipped into their own states to take lives.
