Tom Zawistowski, president of the Ohio-based We the People Convention, says Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (D-Ohio) is in real trouble. Her district has been redrawn to stretch beyond the city of Toledo to include rural and more conservative areas of northwestern Ohio. Those counties backed Trump by more than 10 points in 2024.
Now Kaptur, along with several Democratic hopefuls in Iowa, are embracing so-called "anti-transgender" messaging ahead of the midterms, as if they sudden realized that men playing in women's sports is not popular with a majority of Americans.
Zawistowski says that is proof they will say anything at this point to win.
"Particularly, the older Democrats are finding themselves in a really tough position," he tells AFN. "They know their district doesn't support that, and so the strategy is to lie to try to get elected."
He does not think it will work.
"People are aware of what's going on, and I think that it is desperate, and that means that they're going to lose," Zawistowski predicts.
A similar strategy is happening in Texas. That is where radically liberal Democrat candidate James Talarico, who is ahead in the polls, seemed to flip overnight to a more moderate message. That political strategy was dismissed by none other than a liberal minister in Talarico's own radically far-left Austin church.
“I can guarantee you that once he gets elected, he’ll change his tune back to where he was,” Rev. Babs Miller states in an undercover video.
Zawistowski says it will all come down to which party wins the battle of turnout.
"The Democrats have been doing a good job of suppressing their base with all the commie nonsense, and that's why Kaptur is trying to distance herself," he observes. "But the Democrats have also done a good job of suppressing our base with data centers and the SAVE Act. There's a lot of people on our side who are saying they're not going to vote."
The tea party leader warns that is not a choice.
"You've got to vote because you're in danger," he warns. "These Democrat socialist communists are going to take everything you've got, so you've got to vote for yourself, and that means to defeat every Democrat."
"I think that's what we're going to do," Zawistowski adds.
