The bill gave families more money back through lower taxes, a larger child tax credit and targeted deductions, but many families argue the relief has not matched the pace of inflation and the sharp increases in major household expenses.
According to polling data acquired by Fox Business, only 26% say that the recent tax cuts are sufficient. Meanwhile, 56% of voters say the economy is getting worse, and just 37% say it is getting better.
The public opinion of the state of the economy is not expected to do the GOP any favors come the November midterms, when more and more socialist candidates are looking to get into power.
But Senator John Kennedy (R-Louisiana) recently told Fox he feels great about the midterms and encouraged Republicans to focus on what is on the forefront of voters' minds to win these elections.
"You win elections by talking about the things that moms and dads, when they lie down to sleep at night and can't, are worried about," he said. "Top of that list is cost of living."
Kennedy acknowledged that Congress has problems and needs to get stuff done before November. If he were king for a day, he said he would have put budget reconciliation on the Senate floor a long time ago.
"I've been to a squillion meetings to talk about this stuff that could've been an email," he said. "I'd rather have a back-alley colonoscopy than go to another meeting. It is time to vote. We're not gonna reach agreement; it's time to vote. That's why God made votes."
Kennedy pledged to stay in D.C as long as it takes to get the job done, even though it may be painful.
