In a viral July interview, Fox News host Shannon Bream questioned Megan Romer, national co-chair of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), about the group's "Workers Deserve More" political platform.
In a rapid-fire true-or-false questioning segment, Romer affirmed that radical structural changes are the DSA's official long-term goals: abolish the Senate, replace the presidency and Supreme Court as we now know them, abolish ICE and borders, and give amnesty to anyone currently in the U.S. illegally.
Since then, DSA-backed candidates Melat Kiros in Colorado, Darializa Avila Chevalier in New York, and several others have advanced to their general elections. Tuesday's primary added another victory for the group, as Michigan Democrats nominated Abdul El-Sayed to represent them in November.
Additional primaries remain on the calendar, and talk host Richard Randall thinks that is "incredibly good news" for conservatives, for Republicans, and for Make America Great Again.
He believes the DSA is a fad.
"This is, I think, a blip," he tells AFN. "I think it's a trend. I think it's a novelty. They don't even know enough about it to realize that it doesn't work and that the country and these individual districts and states aren't ready for it."
If the war in Iran hangs on, if gas prices go up, and if younger voters come out in large numbers, he knows that will affect the elections in November. Still, Randall believes the outcome is in GOP hands.
"That relies on conservative media and Trump-supporting people to get out there and work really, really, really hard for the Republican candidates," he submits. "If we can't defeat these socialists in the general election, this country is in way worse shape than we have been willing to acknowledge."
