So-called 'moderate' Spanberger could spearhead the Democrat Party in 2028

Conservative political pundits suggest that Virginia Democrat Gov. Abigail Spanberger may be being actively groomed for 2028.

Spanberger delivered the Democratic Party’s response to President Donald Trump's State of the Union shortly after his speech. According to Forbes, she attacked Trump’s handling of the economy and his aggressive effort to rid America of illegal alien criminals.

Beyond that, Spanberger accused Trump of using the presidency to enrich himself, his family, and his friends, saying that the “scale of the corruption is unprecedented.”

“There's the cover-up of the Epstein files, the crypto scams, cozying up to foreign princes for airplanes and billionaires for ballrooms, putting his name and face on buildings all over our nation's capital. So, I'll ask again, is the president working for you? We all know the answer is no,” stated Spanberger.

However, the Democrat’s official response to the president's State of the Union came from a governor who campaigned as a moderate, but since taking office has governed as anything but a moderate, imposing a radical left-wing agenda. Fox News notes that many conservatives are calling her out for her speech, mocking her claim of being a moderate.

Ellis, Jenna Ellis

Jenna Ellis hosts a morning show on American Family Radio (AFR). She thinks that Democrat Party is setting up Spanberger “to be one of their standard bearers heading into 2028."

“Whether or not she ends up running for president at some point, I don't think it's off the table. She's possibly one of the few women that have now been successful in politics, and so she's out there as kind of one of their new shining stars," states Ellis.

Bauer, Gary (American Values) Bauer

Gary Bauer is chairman of the Campaign for Working Families, who lives in northern Virginia. He does not think that she is the presidential candidate for Democrats in 2028.

"But I could certainly see her as a possibility for the vice-presidential running mate,” states Bauer. “In addition, she's a former employee of the CIA, so she can claim a certain expertise on matters of national security and protecting America around the world."

Bauer says that those issues are ones that Democrats are generally perceived as being weak on.
