A conservative activist has come to the conclusion that today's Democratic Party is a "freak show."

For the second year in a row, Representative Al Green (D-Texas) was ejected from the House chamber as the State of the Union address began Tuesday night. He refused to sit down with his "Black people aren't apes!" protest sign.

As AFN previously reported, radical Islamist Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-Michigan) and Ilham Omar (D-Minnesota) went on to heckle President Donald Trump's speech, and most of their comrades in attendance refused to stand when he invited lawmakers from both parties to "protect American citizens, not illegal aliens."

"Isn't that a shame?" the president responded. "You should be ashamed of yourself."

Lawmakers are allowed to disagree or heckle within certain bounds. Some protested by remaining seated quietly throughout the entire speech. Others made facial expressions of disapproval or shook their heads in response to statements they disagreed with. A few walked out of the chamber temporarily during portions of the address.

Gary Bauer, chairman of the Campaign for Working Families, remains appalled.

"Anybody paying attention could see that the Democrat Party is a freak show," he submits. "I've never seen such a display of anti-normalcy, heartless – the inability or unwillingness to show any respect to hurting Americans who've lost their children, their spouses. I felt like it was almost a science fiction movie."

He also considers the fact that there were dozens of no-shows who opted instead to support a "People’s State of the Union" rally outside the Capitol on the National Mall.

"Eighty of the worst of them didn't even show up for the speech," Bauer notes. "Think what a zoo it would have been if they had been there."

Republicans have protested or expressed dissent during Democratic presidents’ State of the Union addresses in the past, though far less frequently and rarely in ways that required removal or rivaled the Left's dramatic gestures — such as when former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi tore up her copy of President Trump's 2019 address immediately after he finished speaking.

"This couldn't actually be a reflection of today's Democrat Party, but it is," Bauer concludes.
