Recent polls have been encouraging for Republicans who want to break the Democratic yoke on The Golden State. Republicans Steve Hilton and Chad Bianco are in a position to secure the top two spots in the June 2 jungle primary and advance to the general election.
Kevin McGary, a California-based entrepreneur and political analyst, says he has noticed a difference there.
"People are finally, finally beginning to wake up," he says, adding, "The real issue is the issue of voting. Once we pass the SAVE Act, then we can actually have California votes without regard to the illegal vote metric."
While only U.S. citizens are legally allowed to register and vote in state and federal elections, California does not currently require documentary proof of citizenship for voters when registering or voting.
Under the "New Motor Voter Act," the state's implementation of the National Voter Registration Act of 1993, eligible residents, including non-citizens, are automatically registered when they interact with the Department of Motor Vehicles unless they opt out. San Francisco, Oakland, and Berkeley even have provisions allowing certain illegals to vote in local elections.
McGary says 6-8 million illegals have been voting in his state for over a decade, "virtually nullifying the voices and the votes of Californians."
Right now, Californians can register to vote by signing an attestation that they are U.S. citizens. If Congress approves the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, then voters would need to present official documentation showing U.S. citizenship at the time of registration for federal elections.
"The bottom line is until we get the SAVE Act passed, and we actually protect the voices of Californians, we're not going to have a legitimate vote," he submits. "We haven't had one in over a decade."
Unless safeguards can be put in place, he believes Eric Swalwell be the next governor of the state.
"They'll cheat at the end and get the shyster in there," McGary predicts. "He is awful. Everything that he touches is just awful. He's got grotesque TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome). There's not a single thing that comes out of Swalwell's mouth that is acceptable, agreeable, constitutional. He is the worst of the worst."
Registering or voting as a non-citizen in state or federal elections is a felony.
