Jennings: After GOP moves past Trump, future fight is crushing communism

The liberal news media is reporting on a fierce battle for the heart and soul of the Republican Party, but a veteran of Republican politics says reports the GOP is dead have been largely exaggerated.

To hear reports from news outlets such as MS Now, CBS News, and CNN, Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green are in a political fight with President Donald Trump over control of the GOP and the direction it’s headed in coming days and weeks.

“You ask me where the MAGA movement is, or where the Republican Party is, I'll tell you where it is: firmly behind Donald Trump,” CNN analyst Scott Jennings told American Family Radio on Monday.

Jennings, 48, is best known by many conservatives as the sole sane voice on a CNN panel of leftist commentators melting down over Trump. Beyond his appearances on CNN, Jennings is also a veteran of Republican politics. He worked on presidential campaigns for George W. Bush, then served in the White House. He also co-founded a public relations firm to help Republican candidates.

Describing the current state of the Republican Party, Jennings told show host Jenna Ellis it’s true President Trump is term-limited but that doesn’t make him a political lame duck.

“The idea of him being a lame duck, I think,” Jennings said, “is sort of a fantasy conjured up by the Left.”

What makes moving forward difficult, Jennings allowed, is that Trump is a unique political figure who can’t be replicated.

“But what must be carried forward is this idea that we need more energy around fighting for our ideas,” Jennings said. “And I think that's one of the reasons Republicans turned to Trump in the first place.”

Vice President J.D. Vance seems positioned to succeed President Trump in the White House, Jennings also predicted.

'Conservatism versus charismatic socialism'

During the radio interview, Jennings was asked by Ellis if his liberal CNN colleagues really support a socialist-communist worldview behind the scenes.

The polling and the grassroots energy suggests they do believe in it, Jennings said, citing the excitement behind New York City’s mayor-elect, Zohran Mamdani.

“That’s what we’re facing. It’s conservatism versus charismatic socialism,” Jennings warned. “That’s what Mamdani represents. He’s the most popular Democrat in the country right now.”

After the election of Mamdani, Democrats are now witnessing the old leaders of their party, represented by Sen. Chuck Schumer, being pushed aside, Jennings said. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez represents where the party is headed, he said. She is now leading a nationwide hunt for more Mamdani-like socialist candidates, the GOP strategist advised, who can convince young voters to embrace socialism and turn against capitalism. If they succeed, he said, it will destroy America and its republican ideals.

“That’s where we have to meet them on the battlefield and not lose this debate. Otherwise, we’ll lose the country,” Jennings warned.

Jennings was on the radio program to tout his new book on the Trump presidency, “A Revolution of Common Sense.”
