Left-leaning philanthropist George Soros (pictured above), who has been a great friend to Democratic causes and the Biden agenda, was honored over the weekend with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. The medal is the highest civilian honor bestowed by the United States and is presented to individuals who have, in theory, "made exemplary contributions" to the prosperity, values or security of the U.S. or to world peace, culture or other significant public or private endeavors.
Biden said Soros, 94, a Hungarian Jew, was worthy of the honor because of his philanthropic work to promote equity and equality around the world.
The White House says Soros has "strengthened democracy" through his work for human rights, education and social justice through his network of foundations and projects in more than 120 countries.
But what has Soros taught through his generosity?
Many in fact see Soros as working against democracy, not for its advance, by funneling more than $15 billion through his Open Society Foundations, which has awarded more than 50,000 grants worldwide according to The World Economic Forum.
The Heritage Foundation has exposed Soros’ involvement in soaring violent crime rates through his bankrolling of progressive lawyers and the campaigns of soft-on-crime prosecutors, The Daily Signal reports.
“It's a slap in the face to crime victims across the country [and] to conservative Americans to have this award given to George Soros, who has made it his mission to undermine every American city that he can and elect a soft-on-crime prosecutor who will not prosecute even property crimes, let alone other crimes,” Rep. Erin Houchin (R-Indiana) said on Washington Watch Monday.
Soros’ funding has led to “destruction” in many American cities as crime victims are worse off today than before Biden took office, Houchin added.
More than funding elections
Three-in-ten Americans live under a Soros prosecutor, The Daily Wire reports – adding that after Soros' family funds these campaigns, the family "tells them [those prosecutors] what to do."
The Media Research Center obtained nearly 8,000 pages of internal documents through public records requests that show how a Soros-funded group called Fair and Just Prosecution “directed Soros prosecutors to manipulate the rule of law concerning illegal immigration, drugs, abortion, election integrity, capital punishment and laws against childhood sex changes,” The Daily Wire reported.
Soros himself is closer to life’s finish line than starting line, but he’s set up his influence to continue for years to come.
It’s significant, says Daily Signal Managing Editor Tyler O’Neil, that though George Soros was honored by Biden, it was Soros’ son Alex, currently the head of Open Society Foundations, who accepted the medal.
Open Society Foundations has been a major contributor to hard-left groups like the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).
HRC has been a leading advocate for same-sex "marriage." It has provided resources and support for the LGBTQ movement while lobbying Congress and state and local officials in support of LGBTQ rights.
The SPLC is best known for monitoring what it defines as “hate groups” and ending what it defines as inequities in law and immigration.
The Family Research Council, American Family Association and Mom’s For Liberty are just a few to be deemed hate groups by the SPLC.
“Alex Soros is currently running the Open Society Foundations, which is the vast dark money network that his father created,” O’Neil said.
O’Neil, who goes deeper into these topics in his upcoming book “The Woketopus,” said the foundation has aggressively pushed the federal government in a woke direction by funding groups like SPLC then going to the Department of Justice and saying, “Look, this is hate in America. We need to combat it. This is connected to domestic terrorism. That’s the sort of influence we’re talking about.”
Soros has also been active in Demos, a left-wing think tank and advocacy group that worked with the Biden administration to allow federal agencies to register likely Democratic voters, O’Neil said.
Funding the far Left
Via his influence and deep pockets, Soros has enabled Biden to push through a far-left agenda.
“The main problem that we have is Biden has this false veneer of himself as a moderate, as 'the adult in the room,' when in reality he is the most radical president we've ever had, if you look at his policies. One of the main reasons is because of the woke bureaucrats that George Soros is helping to fund and staff the federal government with,” O’Neil argued.
Democracy has become a key talking point for Democrats because Donald Trump is a threat to their power, according to O’Neil – who doesn't deny the "threat" aspect.
“The Left favors a woke bureaucracy by those they consider to be experts in pushing their agenda on climate, sexuality, on every woke issue in the book. President Trump does pose a threat to their bureaucracy and to the Deep State.”
Biden was criticized by conservatives for awarding the Presidential Medal of Freedom not only to Soros this weekend, but to a couple of other left-leaning "influencers" – notably, millionaire LGBTQI activist Tim Gill and former Secretary of State and U.S. senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.
