Former House speaker has 'no room to talk'

A political analyst says Paul Ryan (R-WI) has no business criticizing Donald Trump's accomplishments.

The former House speaker recently emerged from two years of relative silence to urge conservatives to reject the former president and any Republican leader who supports his policies.

"If the conservative cause depends on the populist appeal of one personality or on second-rate imitations, then we're not going anywhere," Ryan said during his evening address at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in California. "Voters looking for Republican leaders want to see independence and mettle. They will not be impressed by the sight of yes-men and flatterers flocking to Mar-a-Lago."

Rob Chambers, vice president of AFA Action, says Ryan has no business criticizing Trump's record.

"If you look at the actions of Paul Ryan and what he's actually accomplished, he has no room to talk when it comes to accomplishing things," Chambers tells One News Now. "All he wants to do is restore your traditional GOP establishment Republicans and call that -- quote -- 'conservatism.'"

He is further discouraged that Ryan also accused Republicans of having the wrong priorities when they speak out about cultural issues and "identity politics."

"The cultural issues are very important, and it's been clear under then-Speaker Ryan's tenure as speaker of the House, he advanced none of those things," Chambers asserts. "Had Paul Ryan actually fought to advance these things, we would not be here today."

The AFA Action vice president adds that much of what is going on in Washington today can be traced back to Ryan's failed leadership.
