Deputy Attorney General defends ICE agents against liberal Illinois and California officials

The U.S. Deputy Attorney General says Democrat politicians who encourage the arrest or harassment of ICE agents are breaking the law.

During a recent interview on the Fox News Channel, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (featured bottom right) continued to demonize ICE agents, accusing them of racial profiling. He blatantly states ICE agents were going after black and brown-skinned people because of their skin color, and he condemns them for taking people’s rights, arresting them, and asking for papers.

Furthermore, California Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D) claimed that state and local law enforcement may arrest federal agents if they break California law. She even said in a joint statement with Rep. Kevin Mullin (D-California) that the president cannot pardon the agents who are convicted.

Todd Blanche is the U.S. Deputy Attorney General. During an appearance on Fox News, he debunked their comments.

Blanche, Todd Blanche

"What the congressman did yesterday — what the governor of Illinois said yesterday — does nothing but harm this country. You cannot touch federal agents when they're doing their job, and that's something that they know. It's something that we reminded them of last night, because if you do, you're committing a crime," says Blanche.

The statement “we reminded them” refers to a letter that Blanche sent to high-ranking California officials, including Gov. Gavin Newsom. The contents stated that interfering and arresting federal agents when they are doing their job is “illegal and futile.”

Blanche also has a suggestion for the Illinois Governor.

"That governor — instead of talking on the news and making up stories of what he thinks is happening — should stand a post. He should go out for one night and see the work that these men and women are doing, and he'll learn and understand that what they are doing is getting this scourge and the people that are here illegally out of this country," says Blanche.
