Gov. Greg Abbott (pictured below) announced last week the State of Texas would transport illegals to the nation’s capital, and he was indeed a man of his word: The first bus rolled up this week, just blocks from the U.S. Capitol, with live footage from Fox News showing the threat fulfilled.
“President Biden refuses to come to the southern border to see the chaos he has created,” the governor told reporters. “So, we’re taking the border to him.”
During an appearance on the Fox News, Attorney General Ken Paxton explained why the governor took action.
“I think Joe Biden wants as many people here as he can get,” Paxton alleged. "It puts the people of my state and other border states, and really the whole United States, in harm’s way. And we can see all the problems we're experiencing whether it's drugs, or whether it's human trafficking, or sex trafficking.”
AFN has reported the U.S. Border Patrol has reported a record-breaking crush of illegal aliens streaming across the Mexico-U.S. border. That number is expected to jump if Biden drops the pandemic-related Title 42 rule that is currently sending many illegals back south. The rule is expected to be dropped in a few weeks.
Responding to Gov. Abbott’s plans, the White House press secretary called it a “publicity stunt” by the Republican governor.
“I’m not aware of what authority the governor would be doing that under,” Jen Psaki unhappily told Fox News correspondent Pete Doocy.
In another confrontation with Doocy, the Fox News correspondent pressed the White House spokeswoman to confirm a report that illegal aliens – “migrants” – are being handed cell phones then released from federal custody.
Psaki not only confirmed the claim but defended it.
“We need to take steps to ensure that we know where individuals are,” she said, “and we can track and we can check in with them.”
Ira Mehlman, a spokesman for the Federation for America Immigration Reform, tells AFN handing a cell phone to an illegal alien is part of an administration policy called Alternatives to Detention.
“And it’s a pretty poor one at that,” Mehlman says, because the illegals know the phone is being used to track them, and to find them if necessary, and so the phone is ditched by people who obviously don’t want to be found.
“They shouldn't be letting them go,” he says, “in the first place.”
The truth is the Biden administration wants to let them go free, Mehlman warns, so giving them a cell phone gives the appearance they are being monitored and tracked while allowed to roam freely within the United States.
