Hurricane Ian made landfall in Florida last fall and took the lives of 149 people. The devastating storm, a Category 4 hurricane, remains the third costliest storm to ever hit the United States and now a rebuilding effort is getting underway in hard-hit Fort Myers.
“We are going to help a couple hundred families rebuild their homes – in eight days,” Steve Tybor, Eight Days founder, tells AFN.
That rebuilding effort begins May 20 and runs through May 27. So far, more than 500 volunteers have signed up on the website to get to work.
Eight Days of Hope is partnering with Harlem Foundation and Summit Church for the rebuilding effort.
Volunteers of all skill sets are needed to help with everything from carpentry to painting, flooring, plumbing, and more.
