This is despite the fact the CDC continues to lessen protocols around the virus and that concerns about the safety and effectiveness of the shots continue.
"It's very clear that the colleges aren't following anyone's science or anybody's recommendations except their own," submits Twila Brase, president and co-founder of the Citizens' Council for Health Freedom. "I think they are just being very dictatorial with their students, and they, of course, know that their students are in a vulnerable place. If the students refuse … they may lose their opportunity to be at that school."
Among these institutions are Spelman College in Georgia, Harvey Mudd College in California, Rutgers University in New Jersey, and the University of Mount Saint Vincent in New York.
The tally is maintained by No College Mandates, an organization critical of the requirements because of their "coercive nature" that completely disregards students' individual freedom and right to bodily autonomy.
"I think this is a power play on the part of these colleges," says Brase. "We know that COVID is not that much of a threat anymore. The CDC itself has listed a lot of recommendations for isolation, and, of course, we all know there has been myocarditis and pericarditis to young people, in particular young men."
Nevertheless, the colleges are forcing people to take the COVID shots.
Harvard University recently dropped its COVID shot requirement for new students, but Dr. Martin Kulldorff, a world-renowned infectious disease epidemiologist and biostatistician, has officially lost his job there because he would not take a vaccine and because he spoke out against the mandates.
An epidemiologist is a person who studies diseases and health conditions in a population, and Dr. Kulldorff would not take the jabs because he had immunity from a previous infection. But Harvard and its affiliated hospitals do not support infection-acquired immunity and would not approve his shot exemption requests.
Hospital-based faculty at Harvard require an active hospital appointment to maintain an academic appointment at Harvard Medical School, so after Mass General Brigham fired Dr. Kulldorff, he was put on leave from his faculty position. The university has reportedly ended that limbo with this official termination.
"I think what the story shows here with Dr. Kulldorf being ousted from Harvard is that COVID is not over, and COVID tyranny continues," Brase comments.
She reiterates that it comes down to control.
"I think it's really clear that those who have taken the power away from the people and have imposed public health measures that don't even make any sense are still all wrapped up in maintaining that control," the health freedom advocate contends. "They're going to take it as long as they can, and they're going to push the people who said 'no' into saying 'yes,' or they're going to get rid of them."
Brase echoes No College Mandates' sentiment: This is bad for freedom of speech and for one's freedom to make decisions about what goes into his or her body.
"It's not a good day for America when people who speak the truth are ousted from universities that claim that they are sharing the truth with students," Brase concludes.
The College Fix notes that a pollical science professor at Fordham University says universities need to figure out a way to fund research that does not make the universities beholden to their funders.
