A pro-life OB-GYN says a left-leaning group of obstetricians and gynecologists is using false information to argue that preborn babies don't feel the pain in abortion.

Dr. Donna Harrison of the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists (AAPLOG) says a prominent abortion-minded OB-GYN association is ignoring science when they claim that preborn children do not feel pain until 24 weeks -- a widely held view contradicted by recent studies, according to The Washington Free Beacon.

"The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) has committed to a very pro-abortion stand, and they are committed to repealing and overturning laws that in any way limit abortion," Dr. Harrison reports. "They've unfortunately let their pro-abortion advocacy blind them to scientific facts."

The two studies they cite to support their argument come from the pro-abortion University of California, San Francisco, which has produced many studies that have been debunked by experts through closer inspection.

Dr. Harrison says valid studies show the babies can feel pain at 15 weeks, if not earlier.

"The unborn child at 15 weeks can react in the same way that you would react," she details. "They withdraw from pain; they have the same kinds of increase in heart rate. The physiological signs that a person is feeling distress can be seen in unborn children in the womb."

Dr. Stuart Derbyshire, an abortion proponent who co-authored a study ACOG used in its no-pain analysis, retracted his addition a decade later, admitting that babies begin to feel pain at 12 weeks.
