Anthony Fauci invoked the Fifth Amendment more than a hundred times in his testimony on the origins of the Covid-19 pandemic on Wednesday.
“In the red folder on your table is a copy of Section 192 of Title 2 of the U.S. Code. Do you have that in front of you? On the advice of counsel, I respectfully decline to answer based upon my rights under the Fifth Amendment of the Constitution,” the doctor said.
Despite a high likelihood of a public clash between Fauci and his old nemesis, Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, and even after the release of private records that seem to implicate Fauci in deception, if not criminal activity, Tim Graham of the Media Research Center says the mainstream media virtually ignored the hearing running up to it.
“The release of Fauci's diary, as they're calling it, has so many bombshells in it, and the networks have pretended that none of that exists,” Graham said.
He says the networks chose their narratives early in the pandemic and stuck with them regardless of the evolving scientific evidence surrounding the disease.
“Generally, the broadcast networks do not revise their coverage. They do not revise their narrative. They certainly don't accept new hearings if they're hosted by the Republicans,” Graham said.
The networks stick together in a pack.
“They run around saying that what they do is independent journalism, but they're deathly afraid of one of these networks breaking from the pack and acknowledging that something is news that they want to bury,” Graham said.
