For years now, the U.S. has been hearing negative rhetoric from Democrat politicians and a leftist media.
In 2018, Time Magazine reported Rep. Maxine Walters (D-California) told people in response to Trump’s zero-tolerance policy regarding illegal immigration to effectively harass the members of Trump’s Cabinet if they are seen in a public setting.
In 2020, Mediaite reported that Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Massachusetts) said in an interview with MSNBC that “there needs to be unrest in the streets for as long as there’s unrest in our lives” following the shooting of George Floyd and subsequent protests.
In January 2026, the White House published a list of the many times “unhinged Democrats” declared war on law enforcement. For example, California Gov. Gavin Newsom likened Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to the secret police and called for people to “push back.”
At the beginning of April, New York Post reported Saturday Night Live made an unsavory joke about Trump attending a play at the Trump Kennedy Center, saying “what’s the worst that could happen?” in reference to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination.
Former FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino tells Fox News this kind of rhetoric comes only from the Left.
“There's no shame in threatening the president's life on the Left. So, this isn't a ‘both sides’ thing. We can just cut that garbage out right now and just stop the nonsense. Not only is there no shame, but you’re also welcomed in open arms on mainstream left-wing podcasts where they're like, ‘Hey, come on in and spew this bile out there,'" Bongino says.
If someone on the Right, he says, tries the same kind of thing, they aren't long for the fight.
“Any respected kind of mainstream figure on the Right, if you were to go out and even imply someone should be physically hurt on the Left for their ideas, you're almost instantly shamed out of the movement,” Bongino states.
There's a Trump-deranged blind rage on the Left, he says, that shows no sign of weakening – even after a third attempt on the President's life.
“There is no such corresponding movement on the Right. There is no ‘both sides,’ folks. Stop telling yourself that,” Bongino says.
