Viewers on almost every broadcast news network were listening to this from Trump:
“From Abraham Lincoln to Martin Luther King, those who change history the most, and he really did, have always risked their lives for causes they were put on earth to defend.”
MSNBC viewers heard this:
“That is exactly what is starting to happen with his brutal and ugly and clunky and wildly unpopular mass deportation scheme.”
MSNBC was the only network not to carry the ceremony. Curtis Houck of Media Research Center says part of the reason was when the ceremony was scheduled.
“Because it was Deadline White House, which is one of MSNBC's tentpole shows, two hours of Nicole Wallace screeching about Trump's authoritarianism and how dangerous MAGA Americans are.”
Houck says it would have been entertaining if the brass at the network had preempted Wallace.
“With Nicole, I mean, she would probably rage quit on the air if she had to go to such an odious thing in her mind. There's a reason I refer to this show as Rich White Liberal Wine Mom Story Hour.”
