Six months after the planned buyout fell apart back in April, attorneys for the billionaire informed Twitter’s corporate attorneys this week he has agreed to honor the original deal by paying $54.20 a share, or approximately $44 billion.
Musk’s surprise offer comes weeks before an October trial was set to start after Twitter sued him in July for backing out of the business deal.
Much like the Far Left's reaction in the spring, the far-left reaction to Musk’s takeover is...something. Once the billionaire takes control of Twitter, a Democrat strategist named Adam Parkhomenko warned, Musk will use that power and “shut us all up” as a personal vendetta against his critics.
In another Twitter post, a Biden supporter named Larry Barnowsky warned Musk will allow Twitter to be a “sewer of hateful speech with Russian trolls and right-wing propaganda.”
Among more well-known names, NBC News reporter Ben Collins wrote a lengthy Twitter thread in which he predicted the midterm elections, which are now five weeks away, could be affected if the business deal is completed soon.
"Be afraid, be actually afraid," Garrett Graff, a former Politico editor, agreed.
"Guardrails will be dropped, misinfo & conspiracy theories will thrive," a BBC reporter, Dickens Olewe, also wrote in a Twitter post.
To many who read those warnings, it didn’t take a detective to read between the lines: The reporters who are telling the public what is true, and what is not, are worried Twitter will not be able to do the same.
Back in April, a rant by MSNBC host Ari Melber went viral for warning viewers Twitter’s new owner could ban a political party’s candidate. If not outright ban them, he speculated, Musk could secretly manipulate Twitter to reduce a candidate’s reach to Twitter followers.
“This is exactly what the Machine\Left\Democrats have done to their opponents for years, you absolute clown,” talk show host Dave Rubin, a conservative author, replied in a Twitter post.
Michael Morris, who studies free speech issues at the Media Research Center, tells AFN the public now knows Twitter affected the 2020 presidential election because it censored the late-breaking revelations about Hunter Biden’s scandal-filled laptop just weeks before Election Day.
“Twitter actually silenced the entire New York Post,” he points out, “on the platform for about a week.”
A survey conducted by Media Research Center found the laptop scandal could have affected the election because voters in three states could have tipped the election results to Donald Trump. That is because the names, emails, and documents in the laptop hard drive tied Hunter Biden to business deals with cronies from China to Eastern Europe.
Joe Biden is suspected to be the "big guy" mentioned in the emails who pocketed 10% of the deals.
