A gun rights group is not happy with a new California law.

"AB 1598 is another effort by the Democrats in California, particularly Gov. Gavin Newsom, to force gun dealers to tell gun owners and people in their stores that guns are dangerous, and they probably should not buy them," says Alan Gottlieb of The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA). "They're forced to issue a pamphlet to everyone coming through their front door as a customer."

Upon signing the bill into law, Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-California) said California will not wait until the next school shooting or mass shooting to act.

"In the absence of congressional action, our state is once again leading the way by strengthening our nation-leading gun laws," said Newsom.

CCRKBA is planning to file a lawsuit.

Clear free speech violation

"This is a violation of freedom of speech, forcing people to make statements and issue information that they don't agree or approve of,

and so we're looking at going to court on this," says Gottlieb. "The law has already passed, and it's an affront to Second Amendment rights so we'll be filing in court."

Gottlieb adds that what begins in California spreads to other states, so people in other states had better pay attention and be concerned.

"If this becomes a new norm and it becomes acceptable to force gun dealers to tell people they should not buy guns because guns are dangerous, that's a definite problem for us nationwide and so it needs to be stopped in California."
