159 people alleged to have been involved in the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot have been arrested so far in 2024. 83 were nabbed in 2023, and just 85 were arrested the year before.
Sandy Rios, host of the podcast Sandy Rios 24/7, says Biden continues to weaponize the Justice Department against conservatives, particularly supporters of Donald Trump.
"They are creating charges and offenses that in any other generation or time would not apply," she notes.
Considering the fact that the vast majority of those in the Capitol that day were strolling around with cameras, some after being let in by the Capitol Police, she calls the sentences extreme and unwarranted.
"Our lawless Justice Department has found a way to slap 20 years on the guys and women inside the Capitol and outside on January 6," Rios relays.
Some of the prisoners have been in the D.C. gulag four whole years and have developed comradery and solidarity. So, the system has split them up and is scattering them to different prisons all over the country. Meanwhile, they are not allowed visitors.
"One of the reasons they keep separating them is because these men, they've bonded in prison," says Rios. "In the D.C. jail, they were having Bible studies together. They were singing the national anthem every morning; they were singing 'God Bless America.'"
She says their harsh sentences are meant to send a message, and it is working.
"They just want their pound of flesh," Rios submits of Biden's administration. "At some conferences, I know that there's been a lower attendance, because Americans are scared to death to go visit their own capital."
