Moms for Liberty is being represented by the Oversight Project, a task force at The Heritage Foundation, which uses the Freedom of Information Act to obtain public records. After a 30-day deadline came and went, Heritage filed the lawsuit last week to demand any documentation of collaboration at the Department of Justice, Homeland Security, Health and Human Services, and the FBI.
Mike Howell, director of the Oversight Project, tells AFN there is reason to be suspicious because the Biden administration has met with SPLC employees.
"In fact, our recent investigation discovered that SPLC employees visited the White House 11 times in the past three years, including six meetings with the President himself,” Howell discloses.
Heritage uncovered those meetings after reviewing White House visitor logs that showed six back-to-back meetings with SPLC leaders and President Biden from May 2021 to November 2022.
SPLC became famous during the Civil Rights era when its attorneys faced down the Ku Klux Klan. Since those days, now 60 years ago, the organization evolved into a left-wing money machine that now documents both Klansmen and also right-wing groups as enemies of progress, democracy, and decency. Those groups are documented on the SPLC “Hate Map,” which is often referred to as a badge of honor because of its obvious bullying motive.

In June, Moms for Liberty learned it had been added to the “Hate Map” after forming in 2020. Two former school board members, Tiffany Justice and Tina Descovich, founded the group after they flipped from looking at frustrated and angry parents to joining them in the school board meetings.
"We are people that do not back down," Descovich told AFN in June when Moms for Liberty showed up on the Hate Map.
In the White House visitor logs, the SPLC official who oversees the “Hate Map” project, Susan Corke, visited the White House on January 6, 2023. She met with John Picarelli, the counterterrorism director for the National Security Council.
That curious meeting did not go unnoticed, either. Rep. Kat Cammack (R-FL) fired off a letter to the White House asking the same questions Heritage and Moms for Liberty are now asking.
Moms co-founder Tiffany Justice tells AFN the group is thankful Heritage is working with it to demand answers.
"It is sad for us as mothers because we want to raise our children to be patriots, and to be willing to stand and defend America,” she says. “When you see the federal government targeting its own citizens for speaking about things they are concerned about, that their tax dollars are being spent on, and that are affecting our children and their lives and their future."
Now that the lawsuit has been filed, the federal government has 45 days to respond, says Kyle Brosnan, chief counsel for the Oversight Project.
