Huckabee defends Israel's stance on unarmed HamasChad Groening, AFN.net Mike Huckabee, the U.S. ambassador to Israel, is vocally defending Israel’s stance on Hamas and its belief the terrorist group will never put down its arms to continue the peace process in Gaza. During an interview on Saudi-owned Al Arabiya English, Huckabee was asked why Israel is rejecting the U.S.-brokered peace agreement that includes Hamas disarming and Israel withdrawing from Gaza. From his own first-hand perspective, Huckabee replied, any criticism of the peace process is not accurate because the first step is Hamas must disarm. “And the second thing was that Israel would be totally within its bounds to defend itself against attacks from Hamas,” Huckabee stated. Hamas, so far, has not put down one pistol or rifle as part of the peace process, the ambassador said. “I think what the [Israeli] prime minister has made very clear, Israel is not going to cease defending its people and its property as long as Hamas is fully armed,” Huckabee said. |
But despite all the controversy, El-Sayed, who is a Democratic Socialist, has more than a point and a half lead over Republican Mike Rogers in the Michigan Senate race according to an average of general election polls compiled by Real Clear Polling.
Michigan is one state the Republicans hope to flip this fall, with Senate seats in Maine, Ohio, North Carolina and even Texas all potentially flipping the other way.
Gary Bauer, chairman of the Campaign for Working Families, says it is not just that El-Sayed has crazy views.
"He has evil views. The man is an antisemite. He's not just against Israel. He's an antisemite. He won't even concede that Israel or that the Jews have a right to have one nation in the world in their homeland," Bauer states.
Michigan’s Jewish Democrats appear to be taking a stand against their party’s antisemitic candidate, according to The Algemeiner. In response to El-Sayed’s hateful rhetoric, three prominent Jewish Democratic bundlers are planning to raise money in support of Rodgers, despite not agree with him politically.
Bauer is encouraged that high-profile Michigan Jewish leaders are fundraising for the Republican candidate.
"They're not that comfortable about it. They are liberal Democrats, but they all said to the media inquiries that this is different. This is not the Democrat Party that I have made my home in. I am not going to vote for somebody that hates me," Bauer says.
Bauer thinks the 2026 Michigan Senate race will be very telling.
"Of whether or not this year is just going to go terribly, because that's what happens in off-year elections. With the incumbent party in power, you end up losing 50 House seats and a dozen Senate seats," Bauer states.
