Kirk on Israel: Curious but also teachable

Since the tragic passing of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, there have been some questions raised about his support for the nation of Israel.

Biblical apologist Alex McFarland is setting the record straight in an exclusive to American Family News.

TPUSA's America Fest 2025 is slated for the third week in December in Phoenix, Arizona, and one of the scheduled speakers is Tucker Carlson, who called Christian Zionism, the belief that's God's covenant with Israel is still in effect and includes the modern state of Israel, a mind virus.

Some have said Carlson's inclusion at Charlie Kirk's conference calls into question Kirk's support of Israel. On the Today's Issues show, Alex McFarland, one of Kirk's friends and mentors, said Kirk was a young, growing Christian.

“Charlie, several months ago, was flirting with what I would call replacement theology. He was not, and I want to repeat, not antisemitic.”

Replacement theology believes God's eternal covenant with Abraham was transferred to the Christian Church.

“Charlie Kirk and I had several conversations about this, and he just flat out asked me, Charlie Kirk said, ‘Alex, why are you so pro-Israel?’

McFarland told Kirk that support of Israel is non-negotiable for the Christian.

“I reminded Charlie and a lot of the younger evangelicals, pastors, and leaders that I mentor, you are just a branch. The root supports you. We Gentile believers are the ones that are late to the party.”

In response, Kirk was his usual, humble self, McFarland said.

“To his credit, Charlie texted me five days before he died and he said, ‘keep the talking points about Israel coming.’ He said, ‘I am teachable.’”
