Students urged to be patriotic, ignore 'phobia' over red, white, and blue

A veteran athlete says patriotic students at a Washington state high school should show up in red, white, and blue, where a staff member called off a 9/11 tribute at the last minute.

Students at Eastlake High were planning a patriotic-themed football game only to witness the school cave over the perception it was “racially insensitive,” Fox News reported.

Steve McConkey of 4 WINDS Christian Athletics, says it is much more likely the community’s patriots were offended by the decision.

"It's almost like they have a phobia for being patriotic,” he says. “And these people that fear patriotism, believing that that sends a racist message, they do not have a clue what they really believe."

High school principal Chris Bede has said students have a right to wear anything to school as long as it does not violate the school's dress code, according to Fox.
