Ryan Helfenbein of Liberty University says on the “Jenna Ellis in the Morning” program on American Family Radio (AFR) to look no further than the parents who have abdicated the upbringing of their children to public education. That is how, he says, so many of the upcoming generation came to embrace socialism and even communism, as represented by the Democratic Socialist Party.
“We have over 50 million children being raised in socialist schools,” says Helfenbein. “They're not taught capitalism. In most schools, you don't have a basic micro or macroeconomics course. You don't know how the economy works. You don't understand the rights of private property.”
He says that parents should teach a biblical model for government as part of the larger Christian worldview, which should inform all of life.
“We all bear a responsibility for our fear and the nurture of the Lord, and we do have a responsibility to instill these principles for the next generation,” Helfenbein states.
Helfenbein says the far Left is rightly criticized for its socialist tendency to expand the government beyond its proper role. But he says the far Right errs on the other side of the coin, wanting government to become the enforcer of Christianity, or what some call Christian nationalism.
“Today, I think people are trapped or falling into this idea that what we need is a strongman Christian to come, and that strongman Christian should wield the sword and then should set all of society to rights,” Helfenbein says. “All of a sudden, okay, our rights are being trampled on by a clerical order.”
One of the skirmishes in the battle for the heart of the Democrat Party is being fought in Colorado, where a Somali immigrant is running for Congress as a Democrat Socialist.
Melat Kiros kicked 15-term Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colorado) to the curb in the House primary for the state’s 1st District. The first-time candidate is one of several DSA candidates that have qualified for the November congressional ballot.
Fox News reports she told a gathering in Denver earlier this month that the U.S. is headed for a reckoning with the so-called "Global South," where America is going to pay for the sin of its success. The Global South refers to countries that are less developed or developing, located in Latin America, Asia, Africa and Oceana.
“The recognition that is going to be required of us, of the exploitative and extractive nature that we play on the global stage,” Kiros said.
The way that's supposed to happen is to make sure more of her kind, politically radical minority immigrants, are elected to office.
“And that means getting more immigrants into office. That means getting more people who have heritage in the global south into office,” Kiros stated.
Michele Bachmann, a former Republican congresswoman, says Kiros has a fundamental misreading of history.
“The United States of America, unlike any other nation on earth, has been a force for good to nearly every other nation on earth,” says Bachmann. “She's rejecting all of that and saying that which made America the military and economic superpower of the world is evil.”
Bachmann says Kiros is pushing a socialist form of government for this country that has not only failed everywhere, but it's been tried. It's been lethal, she says, to the tune of almost 200 million people around the world.
“She should be ashamed of herself for her lack of knowledge, and she's completely disqualified herself from her candidacy,” Bachmann says.
