Algae protestors make fun of Trump's Reflecting Pool renovation

Local college students shared different opinions on the Trump administration's efforts to repair the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool.

According to WIRED, President Donald Trump is renovating several areas of Washington, D.C., including the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. Trump's $14.2 million renovation painted the pool floor "American flag blue." However, the renovation has run into problems with algae, as well as tears in the sealant.

The New York Post obtained a video that clearly shows not everybody agreed with President Donald Trump's efforts to clean up the Lincoln Memorial. In the video, a groups of protestors were praising the algae in the pool.

“Everybody's proud of you! You are singlehandedly doing more to fight fascism than any American has. Let’s go algae!” said protestors, which was met with some cheers.

According to The Washington Post, a group of protestors known as “Team Algae” are dressed up in an absurd manner to draw awareness the algae’s so-called representation of the “ludicrousness of the president’s Reflecting Pool project.”

Larkin, Brady (Campus Reform) Larkin

Brady Larkin, a contributor for The College Fix, took to the streets of the nation's capital to ask college students and D.C. residents whether the reflecting pool was a good investment. He received some mixed opinions.

Student 1: “I mean it's a pond or like a fountain, but I mean there are more important things I think we need to focus on.”

Student 2:Honestly, I think it’s reasonable for such a big monument. I think it's a decent amount, honestly.”

Student 3:I guess I would say that it shouldn't be the top priority, it can be a priority. But there's other things I think they should focus on.”

According to their answers, the D.C. community is spilt on the topic.

However, one student did have a comment towards the so called "Pro Algae" protestors, calling their demonstration excessive.

Student 4:I mean, obviously you guys are being sarcastic, but you're not doing anything. Like, ‘Yay Algae.’ I mean, guys, go home. Get a job.”
