Trump’s shoutout could boost current gender legislation in Congress

The harm caused by the transgender mutilation of children is gaining more attention from the Trump administration and Congress.

During his State of the Union address, President Donald Trump addressed the Sage Blair lawsuit, which accuses the staff at Blair’s high school of socially transitioning her with parental knowledge. He spoke on her resulting hardships because of this, which included her running away from home and becoming a victim of sex trafficking.

“Surely, we can all agree no state can be allowed to rip children from their parents' arms and transition them to a new gender against the parents’ will,” said Trump. “Who would believe that we've been talking about this? We must ban it, and we must ban it immediately.”

Legislation making its way through Congress may help with this.

Bob Onder, a medical doctor and the U.S. representative for Missouri’s 3rd District spoke with Tony Perkins on Washington Watch, saying he was glad Trump addressed Blair’s story.

“We know that — not just in Maryland, but in California, in Minnesota — it is the law that if parents do not support transitioning children, chemical and surgical mutilation of their children, they can have their children taken away from them,” states Onder. “I agree with President Trump that we need to fix that.”

He emphasis this “horrific practice” needs to be outlawed, then pivots to a different case of childhood trans-mutilation; it’s not just surgeries. Chloe Cole, he says, highlights the broader problem of the need to protect children.

Cole was given puberty blockers and testosterone at 13-years-old, and by 15-years-old, she had a double mastectomy. She is now 20 years old and has since “de-transitioned.” She admits that she has faced multiple problems because of, first, the blockers and cross-hormones, then the surgery.

“She was too young to consent to such horrific medical intervention. For that matter, she was too young, by far, to drive a car, to buy a pack of cigarettes, or to serve in the military. And yet, here these gender quacks were bringing her down this road to irreversible harm,” says Onder.

Cole said that her gender dysphoria — defined as the distress felt when one questions his or her natural sex -- was encouraged by therapists and gender specialists as they did not address her underling issues. She was later diagnosed with ADHD and autism.

The American Psychiatric Association lists therapy first among its gender dysphoria treatment options.

Among other personal factors for Cole were her parent’s fear that they might lose her emotionally or to suicide, leading to Cole’s decision to begin to identify as a biological male. She wrote that the biggest failure of her health care providers was “encouraging and allowing me to medically transition as a child in the first place.”

Explaining the Chloe Cole Act

On February 23, the Chloe Cole Act of 2026 was reintroduced into Congress. The bill was commissioned in response to Trump’s executive order to protect children from chemical and surgical mutilation. If passed, the bill will place full liability on hospitals and clinics, allowing families and individuals to pursue civil damages. It will provide a lengthy statute of limitations.

Onder is the sponsor of the bill.

“Chloe Cole Act, once and for all, would outlaw that practice and hold those accountable to the victims,” says Onder.

He asks people to call or write their lawmakers and implore them to support this act that will protect kids from these harmful procedures and hold responsible those who conduct the procedures.

The gender fight is as much a spiritual battle as it is a political battle, he said.

“I've been engaged in these sorts of issues for a long time, and I and my family have come under spiritual attacks,” Onder said. “So, please pray to guide me and guide my family, that the hand of God would protect us from the demonic evil that is the transgender cult.”
