Nikki Haley’s son says GOP needs to get in the game with young voters

Openly socialist candidates are starting to win state and local races, powered by Gen Z voters. A conservative student activist says Republicans need to pick up the pace with Gen Z or get left in the dust.

Seventy-eight percent of voters under 30, and 66% of those voters 30- 44 voted for Zohran Mamdani in his recent New York City mayoral race, according to exit polling.

A recent Cato Institute/YouGov poll found that 62% of Americans aged 18–29 held a "favorable view" of socialism. Conservative influencer Nalin Haley, son of former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, tells Fox News the Left is going hard after the youth vote.

“Over half of Gen Z has positive views of socialism, and it's because socialists, the Democratic Socialists, are actually reaching out to young people,” he said.

Haley, 24, who holds a degree in Political Science from Villanova, says the economy is the top issue for Gen Z, with one-third of recent college graduates unemployed.

He related personal stories of unemployed friends.

“They have to compete with foreign workers who are willing to work for half their salary and AI, which is a supercomputer. So how can we compete with that?”

And Haley says it's almost impossible for young people to buy a house in the current economy.

“The average first-time home buyer in America is 40 years old now. Five years ago, it was 33. My parents bought their first house for $90,000 in the late 90s, and now it's probably worth over $400,000.”

To address the issues young voters are facing, Haley proposed banning H-1B visas to ensure corporations hire Americans first.

"I think that we need to stop subsidizing illegal immigrants for housing and instead maybe look into subsidizing Americans for first-time homebuyers for housing, and not allow corporations in the Chinese Communist Party to buy entire neighborhoods of single-family homes," he told Fox News.

He says if the GOP doesn't pick up the pace with Gen Z voters they're going to lose more and more elections.

“I haven't heard any Republican leaders talk about the issues that young people are facing. Congress has been nothing more than a glorified nursing home. They either don't know the problems that we're facing, or they're ignoring them.”
