In a horrific fatal crash on the Florida Turnpike, near Fort Pierce, an illegal alien from India is accused of making an illegal U-turn that jackknifed his trailer. A minivan travelling behind him ran under the trailer, killing the driver and two passengers.
Blue states being targeted for loose CDL policiesChad Groening, AFN.net Mark Krikorian, the executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, questions the validity of issuing a CDL to an illegal. "Commercial driver's licenses because it's interstate commerce they're heavily regulated by federal law so it shouldn't be allowed and the whole concept of giving official government photo ID's of any kind to illegal immigrants needs to be rolled back. Illegals shouldn't get ID. When you give them ID it helps them put down roots and it makes it harder either to arrest them or persuade them to leave,” he said in an appearance on Fox News. Krikorian believes blue states are going to have to pay a political price. "What the Left is trying to do is blur the difference between legal and illegal, and I don't know what to tell them other than they're going to lose more elections before they wake up to this. Because anything Trump says, these guys are doing the opposite. Trump says crime is bad. They say crime is good." |
The truck driver has been identified as Harjinder Singh, 28, who is being charged with three counts of vehicular homicide.
Singh crossed into the U.S. in 2018 and was allowed to remain here after an immigration court believed his claim he lived in fear of returning to India.
Thanks to a dash camera (pictured above) in the semi-truck, the fatal crash – and Singh’s lack of empathy for causing the fatality – were caught on camera and have gone viral on social media.
During an appearance on American Family Radio, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier said the State of California deserves some blame for the fatal crash. That’s because that is where Singh received a commercial driver’s license, or CDL.
“We're going to fight back against California as they expose other states like Florida to harm,” Uthmeier vowed. "And we will make sure that this individual is held accountable for the deaths of these three individuals."
California, which has the largest U.S. population of illegal aliens, has permitted them to obtain a legal driver’s license since 2013. That law doesn’t allow illegals to obtain a CDL, however, but Florida authorities and federal authorities have said Singh obtained his truck license in the state.
In a bizarre attempt to troll Republicans, Gov. Gavin Newsom’s press office published a political meme on X that pointed out Trump was president in 2018, when Singh entered the U.S.
The meme also insists California only gives a CDL to legal immigrants but, beneath it, also states research “consistently shows that issuing driver’s licenses for undocumented people improves public safety.”
A related posted from Newsom's press office said the Trump administration is "either lying or clueless."
Hours after Newsom's X post, a Fox News story filled in questions about Singh's work history. His request for a CDL was rejected by the Trump administration in 2020. It was permitted, in 2021, by the Biden administration, a spokesman for the Department of Homeland Security said.
In his interview with show host Jenna Ellis, Uthmeier questioned whether the U.S. Constitution’s full faith and credit clause is being abused.
“I think the commerce clause," he observed, "while it's been applied broadly across the country, it certainly should not does not allow for illegal activity to be permitted to cross state lines and not give states the opportunity to regulate or conduct some oversight."
