A bill was put forth in front of the Mississippi legislature to legalize intoxicating hemp beverages. State Senator Angela Hill told American Family Radio last week that supporters tried to pass HB1502 on the guise of getting other edible intoxicating hemp products out of the convenience stores.
"Legislators were told if you will pass this intoxicating hemp beverage and make it law, then we'll get all the rest of this stuff out of the convenience stores," said the state senator. "But legislators were 100% being lied to and 100% being manipulated because those intoxicating hemp products [under Mississippi law] are already illegal in the gas stations and grocery stores."

Some legislators, she stated, "have a problem not doing their homework" and don't know the laws that are in place.
"There's a handful of us who actually do research and know the law," Hill continued. "… Fortunately, we were able to go to the podium, explain to the rest of the body of the Senate what the law is now, and that we're being lied to – and [we told them] if you vote for this, you're voting a backdoor way to legalize recreational THC in Mississippi."
The effort paid off. Hill said that Mississippi kind of "dodged a bullet" again in a battle that goes back several years. "Fortunately, it's dead for now," she added.
