While fewer young people are claiming the Christian faith, anecdotal reports show the Church of Satan is making gains.

According to The American National Family Life Survey from last year, more than a third (34%) of Gen Z are religiously unaffiliated. Meanwhile, the Church of Satan has grown significantly, especially since the overturn of Roe v. Wade. Satanists say that is because their church, by definition, opposes all things of God, and that includes life.

Satanic communities also claim that abortion is a protected religious act.

McFarland, Alex (Christian apologist) McFarland

"More than six decades ago, C.S. Lewis talked about the lure of the occult," notes Christian apologist Dr. Alex McFarland. "He said the occult promises everything and demands nothing."

The raw numbers of Christian youth are still counted in the millions, while the Satanists only boast numbers in the thousands. Leaders say they do not actually believe in, much less worship, an actual Satan; they are their own gods and are supposedly freed from the rigid demands of Christ.

McFarland says that is just another lie from the father of lies.

"Dabbling in any spiritual reality apart from the solid ground of God's revelation and the safe arms of Jesus Christ the Savior, dabbling in the supernatural is very dangerous," he warns. "In more ways than one, it's appropriate to say they're playing with fire."

But with the establishment of After School Satan Clubs in public schools and the creation and promotion of cartoons like "Little Demon," the culture continues to help the enemy make these gains.
