Founded in 1994, the Pontifical Academy for Life was established to advise the Pope on the issue of life, including upholding the Catholic Church's historic stance on abortion. But now an avowed abortion supporter, economist Mariana Mazzacato, was appointed to the Academy in recent days.
Judie Brown of the American Life League served on the Academy for years, where she defended the unborn. Her son, Hugh Brown, tells AFN the Academy is undergoing a “neo-modernist” change under Pope Francis who is neglecting the Catholic Church’s declaration on abortion.
“There may be [a declaration] but it's not orthodox,” he says, “and nobody with that person's record would ever be considered.”
The appointment of Mazzacato generated a troubling news story by National Catholic Register. That story pointed out her record of supporting abortion and her affiliation with the nefarious World Economic Forum, the border-hating globalist group.
Likewise, a story by LifeSiteNews pointed out Mazzacato’s work with the World Economic Forum and her praise for abortion. Other prominent abortion supporters and non-Catholics have been appointed by Pope Francis to influential posts, too, the story pointed out.
According to Brown, appointing Mazzacato will not save unborn lives. Pope Francis, he says, should be ashamed for allowing it.
“This doesn't stop the destruction of human life,” he warns. “As a matter of fact, it probably helps proliferate it.”
