The One Year Chronological Study Bible includes a read-the-Bible-in-a-year plan, devotional questions, unique chronological charts, and "Understanding the Story" articles.
Bible scholar Iva May, who created the Bible for Tyndale, says the job literally meant taking the Good Book apart and putting it back together to match historic dates and timelines.
“It's only in the days of technology we are able to do that,” she told American Family Radio. “So it's a real blessing to the body of Christ.”
May likens Bible reading for many people to a jigsaw puzzle, since even devoted Christians who read and study don’t know how the “puzzle pieces” fit together. The new Bible helps them with a “framework” of 14 biblical eras, beginning with “Creation” in Genesis. The timeline of history marches on from the early Patriarchs, the exodus from Egypt, and on and on through the birth of Christ and the birth the Church.
According to Tyndale's own description, this new product stands out from other similar projects. "It's a rare combination of study and devotional content on nearly every page," Tyndale states, "and the chronologically ordered New Living Translation text organized in 14 eras of history."
May’s proud and supportive husband Stan, a seminary professor, told AFR his wife's scholarly work helps bridge the gap between the Old Testament and the New Testament.
“You can't understand Jesus apart from the revelation that preceded Him,” he said. “One of my professors used to say the Old Testament is the New Testament concealed and the New Testament is the Old Testament revealed.”
The One Year Chronological Study Bible is due out in September.
