In the follow-up to a CBN documentary exploring miracles and the supernatural, investigative journalist Billy Hallowell has released a related series that explores angels and demons, and a spiritual battle happening around us.
The name of the new documentary, which launched in March, is “Investigating the Supernatural: Angels and Demons.”
Describing the newest documentary to American Family Radio, Hallowell said the purpose is to help Christians make sense of the unseen. There is a battle taking place between good and evil, he said, which pastors and churches should be addressing more often.
“You cannot win a battle that you don't know you're in,” he told show host Jenna Ellis.
In the film, Hallowell interviews a variety of experts, theologians, and first-hand witnesses, who describe their own investigations and experiences with the supernatural realm.
One of those interviewed is psychiatrist Dr. Richard Gallagher, a Columbia University professor. His firsthand story describes moving from skeptic to believer after encountering a demon-possessed woman who called herself a Satanic priestess.
Biblical experts who appear include atheist-turned believer Lee Strobel, Dr. William Lane Craig, and Dr. Gregory Boyd.
Describing the modern-day culture, Hallowell said even Christians have been conditioned to ignore the supernatural around us even though the physical world around us had a supernatural beginning.
“Christians obsess over the topic, or they don't talk about it at all,” he observed.
That comment itself mirrors a comment from Uncle Screwtape, the demon in C.S. Lewis’ “Screwtape Letters.” In one of his letters, Screwtape observes that humans make the mistake of completely dismissing the Devil or obsessing over his existence.
There is a “middle ground” for exploring and explaining angels and demons, Hallowell stressed, which is what the documentary attempts to do.
