Millions will gather today for National Day of Prayer

This is the 75th year for the event, and talking about this Wednesday on “Washington Watch,” Dion Elmore, Vice President of the National Day of Prayer Task Force, said thousands of volunteers will rally tens of thousands of gatherings in their communities.

"So, all 50 states, the territories of the United States, and we will rally millions and millions of people to pray," said Elmore.

"We encourage you to go and to join with those in your community, to pray for the leaders in your community and the influencers who are in the process of influencing us," said Elmore. "You know, we always tell people, pray to the influencer of influencers so that he will influence those who influence you and your family and your communities."

This year's theme is based on 1 Chronicles 16:24, which tells us to declare God's glory and his marvelous works among all nations.

Elmore said the founders did just that, and we should be no different.

"As we look at our founding fathers, they were focused on establishing God and establishing prayer in our nation from the very beginning, and we encourage people to focus on the God that they were focusing upon," said Elmore. "Our role is to bring glory to God this year and to seek him for everything that we need in our nation."
