Fox News reports that biblical archaeology book has soared to the top of several bestseller charts, including reaching number 3 on New York Times Bestseller List.
“The Jesus Discoveries” looks at ten historical finds that prove the Jesus of the Bible actually existed and performed the miracles that the Word of God said He did.
The author of the book, Dr. Jeremiah Johnston, writes about discoveries like the Shroud of Turin, a cup from around 50 A.D. that mentions Jesus the miracle worker, and His name written on pieces of papyrus from the first century A.D.
“It was such a joy to unlock very recent discoveries about Jesus that every single follower of Jesus Christ must be aware of because they bring you closer to Jesus and they make you more intelligent,” says Johnston.
He reveals that he has spent four years traveling the globe talking to scientists and archeologists who have personally studied and researched these artifacts.
Archeologist, he says, have even discovered the burial box of Jesus' brother James.
“We have the actual bone box of James that uniquely says, ‘James, son of Joseph, brother of Jesus’,” states Johnston.
Johnston writes about the Dead Sea Scrolls and more. He says these finds add flesh to our faith.
“Not a shred of the New Testament would have been written had there not been many convincing infallible proofs — Acts 1-3, that Jesus was alive after he was dead and crucified,” states Johnston.
He says evidence of the historical Jesus can open doors with sceptics who claim the Bible is a human book full of fantasies.
“The Christian movement survived under intense persecution because they knew how to talk about their faith. Here's the bottom line. The Jesus discoveries, my book is going to teach you to think like Jesus so you can act like Jesus and hopefully talk like Jesus too,” says Johnston.
